In the earliest conception of this church, Pastor Robert Taylor and a few families began meeting in a home on Kingsley Crossroad. As the congregation increased they began meeting at the Town Hall and then moved to the Grange Hall on Maple Street. After that they met in an empty store building located on 110 Liberty Street. They rented that space until the current church building was constructed.
The ground breaking of the church was March 25, 1957. As the work progressed, the church people began to hold services in the basement of the church. The church was built mainly by men who were employed by the Seaway. They worked on the church during their free time from their jobs. Calvary Baptist Church was completed and dedicated on Easter Sunday morning in 1958.
The congregation grew from its initial size of twelve members. In 1971 Pastor Taylor resigned and the church went without a pastor for two years. Pastor Bunyan began his ministry at the church in 1973 and served the church until 1977. Pastor Thomas Englehard served as pastor from 1978 to 1981.
Pastor Donald MacKenzie became Pastor in 1981 and served the church until 1994. Another two years went by without a Pastor. In 1996 Pastor Daniel Moore was called and served the church until 2000. Pastor Colin Lucid was called in 2001 and has served the church as Pastor from 2001 to the present time.
